BMAC is an advocacy organization formed to address systemic racism within the music business. Our Coalition advocates on behalf of Black artists, songwriters, producers, managers, agents, executives, lawyers and other passionate industry professionals.

What is the Black Music Action Coalition? 

BMAC is an advocacy organization formed in alliance with #TheShowMustBePaused.  Our Coalition advocates on behalf of Black artists, songwriters, producers, managers, agents, executives, lawyers and other passionate industry professionals.  We have come together to address racism within the music industry and society at large.  

What does BMAC do? 

BMAC represents the interests of Black artists before the music industry and broader society.  In addition, BMAC organizes and disseminates key information through its network of 200+ initial members to influence culture on matters of racial justice and equity through policy, philanthropy and voter education.  

Who can join BMAC? 

Any artist, songwriter, producer, manager, agent, lawyer, executive or other passionate industry professional.   

How is BMAC organized? 

BMAC is organized as a 501c3 & 501c6 nonprofit trade organization.   

How is BMAC funded? 

BMAC has begun soliciting contributions to fund basic operations, campaigns and expenses.  To date, the founding Board Members have covered any costs out of pocket and each member has donated her or his time.   

What is BMAC’s current leadership structure?

BMAC is currently run by an Executive Board that meets regularly by phone and conference. The current members include: Ashaunna Ayars, Binta Brown, Caron Veazey, Courtney Stewart, Damien Smith, Jamil Davis, Willie “Prophet” Stiggers and Shawn “Tubby” Holiday. 

BMAC is advised by an Advisory Board consisting of Clarence Avant, Irving Azoff & Quincy Jones.
