Happy New Year everyone! I hope your 2019 is a great year for you all. As we all prepare for a new year, one artist in particular is looking to ride on the success of her 2018 rise to fame. Diamonté Harper, who you might better recognize as the Californian rapper, Saweetie, went viral with her hit, “Icy Girl”. Born on July 2, 1993, Harper grew up around music. She is cousins with the well known producer, Zaytoven. Saweetie attended the University of Southern California, where she obtained a degree in communications with a focus in business. Upon graduation, her rap career began to take off.

Back in 2016, Saweetie began to gain some attention after a video of her rapping on Instagram began to gain steam on the Internet. The song she was rapping actually turned into “Icy Girl”. In 2017, she released a video that featured a verse of her freestyle “High Maintenance”. This also went viral and gained a lot of attention.

In 2018, Saweetie dropped her debut album, High Maintenance. The album has been received well and has continued to prove that Saweetie is a talent to keep an eye out for. She is scheduled for two shows this month. January 15th she will be in San Francisco at 1015 Folsom and on January 19th, she will be at the Light Nightclub at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas. Check out her debut album, High Maintenance, below.
