University News: 21 Savage and Juicy J to headline OwlFest

Published On Sep 9th, 2018

FAU announced rap artists 21 Savage and Juicy J will play OwlFest at last night’s bonfire.

And to cover the cost of the headliners, FAU will be charging students $21 and guests $45. The annual fall concert, OwlFest, has been free for students in past years.

The Nov. 8 concert will be held in the Student Union auditorium. Holding the concert outdoors is expensive, and could get rained out, says Richard Mahler, Student Activities and Involvement assistant director. The event will be put on by Program Board, the student-run group that organizes on-campus events.

Students can get tickets at the Student Union box office starting Sept. 10, and guests can get tickets here. Guests must come to the concert with a current student.

Following the OwlFest lineup announcement, Program Board released this year’s Homecoming theme: “Atlantic Awakens.” The theme is a riff on the 2015 Star Wars revival, “The Force Awakens.” Homecoming will be held Nov. 4-10.

The Star Wars theme comes with events like:

  • Visit Hoth: Housing Lawn, Nov. 5 at 11 a.m.
  • Forest Moon DIY Terrariums: Social Science Building Plaza, Nov. 6 at 11 a.m.
  • Star Wars Movie Night: Location TBD, Nov. 6 at 8 p.m.
  • Attack of the Clones Laser Tag: Grand Palm Room, Nov. 7 at 11 a.m.
  • Darth Owlsley Photo Op: Student Union, Nov. 8 at 11 a.m.
  • Stuff-an-Ewok: Student Union, Nov. 9 at 12 p.m.
